The 10th Annual Driving "Fore" a Cure for PH golf tournament will be held on Oct. 20, 2023 at Riverwood Golf Course in Clayton, NC. Our goal is to raise $50,000 and 100% of the proceeds will fund research to help find a cure for this rare disease. There will be food, gifts, silent auctions, and of course a great day of golf. Registration includes golf fees, tee gifts, dinner and a golf shirt.

The inspiration for this golf tournament is our 12-year-old son Jackson, who was diagnosed in August 2012 with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). PH is a chronic, incurable, progressive, and life-threatening lung disease that creates narrowing of the blood vessels in the lungs which causes additional strain on the right side of the heart. If left untreated, PH can lead to failure of the right side of the heart. Within 48 hours of Jackson being diagnosed, we were told he wouldn’t survive the disease and that he would eventually need a lung or a heart & lung transplant.

After Jackson was formally diagnosed, we began to speak with specialists at Duke Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital to create a plan on how to attack this disease. The good news is that we fortunately caught the disease early enough where treatment is still an option. There have been some significant advancements on treatments of Pulmonary Hypertension over the last 10+ years, however, there is only one approved treatment for children with PH and there is still no cure.
